Officials from the largest school district in the state have declared a state of emergency on Tuesday as COVID-19 concerns continue in Oklahoma.

Officials from Oklahoma City Public Schools met one day after the state Board of Education approved the closure of all Oklahoma public schools until April 6.

During the meeting, officials addressed how the district would continue feeding children and how they would pay the district's hourly staff.

So far, feeding stations are scheduled to be set up on Monday.

Also in the meeting, the superintendent was granted permission to make decisions without the district's Board of Education's approval as the emergency continues to progress.

Superintendent Sean McDaniel is scheduled to meet with state Superintendent Joy Hofmeister for updates on how to proceed.
