Michigan Man Killed In Drag Boat Races Near Chouteau

MAYES COUNTY, OK -- A Michigan drag boat racer was killed during the Southern Drag Boat Association races held August 7-8, according to the SDBA series director.

SDBA reports John Haas was killed at about 4 p.m. Saturday near Chouteau on the Grand River.

Series Director Ken Dollar confirmed that Haas was driving at about 217 miles per hour when the fatality accident occurred.

A viewer of The News On 6 sent video of the accident.

"It's a difficult time right now," Dollar said.

No one else was injured in the wreck.
