Yukon Police arrested two people on drug charges during a traffic stop Sunday, one of whom is six months pregnant.
Tia Lisa Downour, 25, was arrested for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia, police said. William Goree, 39, was also arrested, among other offenses, for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, conspiracy to distribute and four active drug-related warrants, said Yukon Police Chief Gary Wieczorek.
Yukon Police said they uncovered $455 in cash, glass pipe with burnt residue and seven plastic baggies of marijuana inside Downour's purse.
Downour, who is six months pregnant, stated she and Goree smoked marijuana about four hours prior to being pulled over and that she knew Goree sold marijuana.
The arrest is the latest in a series of drug busts over the past two weeks in Yukon.
"We've had a mix of big and small drug busts, some as a result of traffic related stops, but it just goes to show that drugs are prevalent in Yukon, and in any other metro-area city," Wieczorek said.
