Gang activity has moved from the city to smaller communities throughout Oklahoma, said the FBI.

A shooting in Shawnee Sunday could be an example of the move, according to authorities. The victim in that shooting identified the shooter as a member of the Bloods gang.

"We've had nothing this serious in a long time to even consider to be gang related," said Dan Shumaker with the Shawnee Police Department.

Shumaker said Shawnee has been forced to learn more about gangs, as the gang-related activities rise. He said the community is now educating themselves and becoming aware of the activity.

Daniel Williams, who oversees the FBI's gang unit, said the Metropolitan Gang Force has definitely worked in Oklahoma City, and is now focusing on smaller towns.

He said the gang members have taken note to the authorities' crack down on gang activity, and have moved to the smaller communities to evade the police.

Meanwhile, small cities like Shawnee have formed gang task forces of their own.
