The first day of Oklahoma City's Play in the Park began Wednesday. Metro parks and schools are working together to provide places for children to play sports, games and make arts and crafts during the summer days.
"We even have field trip opportunities and we can partner with police and fire to do safety programs," said Jennifer McClintock of OKC Parks and Recreation. "Things that can help bolster education during summer months."
The children are supervised and the program is free to students six-years-old and older.
Parents can sign their children up at one of the 26 Play in the Park locations.
The Play in the Park program runs Monday through Friday until August 1 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
