9:49 p.m. Sunday

The past 2 hours have been a blur. We had a 9:30 deadline to get into Beaumont, shoot our video, find people to intervier, get back to our satellite truck, edit the story & feed it back to our studios in Oklahoma City.

We got our start at 8pm and managed to accomplish all that with the help of our photographer, David Young and managing editor Bryan Eckert. Coming back home and finding it empty reminds me of what happened in 2005 with Hurricane Rita.

It truly is the calm before the storm & our job is far from over tonight. We are getting back on the road a heading to Lafayette Louisiana tonight.

We have a house or an apartment we will be staying at tonight & getting whatever rest we can get before tomorrow's landfall. Ill be blogging more Monday as we get rolling again.

Good night from Texas !
