"In some cases the auditions can be very, very brutal," school founder Robert Galinsky said.

Reality show casting directors give insider tips on what they want to hear in an audition:

  • Do practice your story.
  • Do watch reality television.
  • Don't sing and dance.
  • Don't sell your personal agenda.

Then, they teach how to be successful on a show. Topics include how to build fans, win competitions, and be liked.

Pickett said he learned he needs to revamp his audition tape.

"I think without realizing, I may be doing it for a wrong motive right now," he said. "But if I do a little more soul searching. I will realize this is what I'm really wanting to try to do."
