OKLAHOMA CITY -- A 15-year-old teen remains in critical condition Thursday after being shot Wednesday afternoon.
Thomas, a student at Taft Middle School, was shot multiple times in a driveway near NW 13th Street and Blackwelder Avenue.
"I want to know who it is and ask him why," Thomas' friend Mandy Moore said. "He's a good kid. He's nice to everybody, does everything he can to help everybody and this is what he gets. It doesn't make sense."
Police said the violent confrontation was the culmination of an ongoing argument. Around 3:30 p.m., a male and a female allegedly walked up to Thomas and opened fire.
"At this time, it's possibly gang-related, but the officers are trying to figure it out now," Lt. Greg McCalister said.
Thomas was taken to the hospital, while police detained at least three witnesses. Authorities recovered two guns from a nearby location in which the alleged suspects fled.
Neighbors claim the neighborhood is no stranger to crime.
"A lot of bad stuff, drugs, prostitution, gang activity, shootings every weekend," resident Pam Coleman said.
Police are continuing their investigation to determine if the weapons found were the same ones used in this crime. The alleged suspects, meanwhile, remain at large.
Anyone who knows anything about the case is asked to call Crimestoppers at 235-7300.
