NORMAN, Okla. -- The Norman High product was expected to see a lot of playing time last season, but last year, an off-the-field incident meant Wide Reciever Ryan Broyles would literally be kept off-the-field.
Head Coach Bob Stoops imposed a penalty to the player and hoped and fully expected the situation to be a learning experience for the gifted and affable youngster.
Mission accomplished.
It could not have worked out any better for either party: A Big 12 title for the team, sans Broyles, who clearly had turned a negative into a positive.
These days anyone is much more likely to find Broyles spending time with special needs kids at Cleveland Elementary and the Cleveland County Family YMCA than to find him in trouble.
Broyles was at the YMCA Thursday morning with a friendly smile and ready to talk about his new priorities.
