STILLWATER, Oklahoma -- With the college football season coming to an quick end, the Thunder is hoping sports fans will move from the gridiron to the hardwood in 2009.
We know now things didn't turn out quite as the OSU Cowboys had planned, but football fans still walked away winners, grabbing free gear on the way out of Eskimo Joe's thanks to the Thunder.
Jamie Morningstar is director of ticket sales for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Her group handed the free gifts and prizes, including courtside tickets to the Thunder games.
The big league staff hoped the stop in Stillwater will turn out to be a slam-dunk in ticket sales at the Ford Center.
"We think there's something for everybody at all of our Thunder games, even if you're not a basketball or sports fan," Morningstar said.
Some Cowboy fans said now that Pokes are packing it up for the year, they're willing to give the state's other sport a try.
"I think that's a pretty good fan base to do that for because I think a lot of us are willing to go do something like that," Cowboy fan Jacob Harper said.
The Thunder plans to do the same thing next week for the BCS championship game. They'll be giving away prizes to Sooner fans at the Fox and the Hound in Oklahoma City.
