OKLAHOMA CITY -- Police discovered evidence in an Oklahoma City apartment that could prove its tenants were posing as fake police officers.

Oklahoma City Police said they believe the suspects are linked to crimes involving people posing as fake police officers.

"They had all the getup," Sgt. Paco Balderrama said. "All the dress, all the props to make them look like law enforcement."

The suspects had fake bullet-proof vests and fake identification cards, which police said they used to commit the crimes.

"We believe that they were going through apartment complexes stating that they were doing immigration checks," Balderrama said.

Police said the suspects do not have jobs, and were making their living posing as police officers.

Police advise anyone confronted by a fake police officer to call 911.

A dispatcher will be able to identify if the person is a real officer or not.
