Tulsa English Teacher Honored as Oklahoma Teacher of Year

Brian Grimm, an English teacher at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa, has been selected as Oklahoma's teacher of the year.

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK -- An English teacher at Will Rogers High School in Tulsa has been selected as Oklahoma's teacher of the year.

Brian Grimm's selection by the Oklahoma Department of Education was announced Tuesday at the State Fair in Oklahoma City.

Grimm has worked at Will Rogers High School for five years. He is graduate of the University of Science and Arts in Chickasha.

"I am just absolutely bowled over. I am just so happy for Rogers and TPS," Grimm said moments after State Superintendent Sandy Garrett announced the winner.

Grimm teaches English and pre-Advanced Placement English at Will Rogers High School. He has been in his current position for five years with a total of 13 years experience in education and previous employment at Dallas and other schools in Texas.

Winning entitles Grimm to a prize package worth about $50,000. He'll also travel the state as Oklahoma's Ambassador of Teaching, speaking to parents, educators and college students and conducting professional development.
