NORMAN, Oklahoma – Firefighters are mopping up after a fully-involved apartment fire in Norman Friday afternoon.

Residents at the Oak Tree Apartments called the Norman Fire Department just before 3 p.m. The complex is near Highway 9 and 12th Ave. When firefighters arrived, they found flames and smoke pouring from the apartments.

The fire destroyed one building and extended to another before firefighters were able to bring it under control.

Residents who have been displaced by the fire are being assisted by the Red Cross.

OU students who are without a place to stay as a result of the fire can call 325-2511 to receive a dorm room and meal service for the weekend.

Non-OU students can call the Norman chapter of the Red Cross, 321-0591, and be put in touch with a case worker who can assist with meals and lodging.
