OKLAHOMA CITY -- An Oklahoma City police officer writes a song to honor one of his own.

Sgt. Ryan Schweitzer debuted his song titled "Selfless" during a church service at Southern Hills Baptist Church on Sunday.

The song is about an incident that occurred back in February when fellow officer Chad Peery was asked to help out during a bar fight. Peery was beaten and left paralyzed.

Schweitzer says the tragedy inspired him to write the song to raise money for Peery to help support his family.

"It struck close to home with me because I have four children, as does he and I came to the realization that that could have very easily been me that was severely injured like he was and unable to provide for my family," said Sgt. Schweitzer.

Sgt. Schweitzer said he hopes to record the song and sell it locally with 100 percent of the proceeds going to Peery.
