OKLAHOMA CITY -- Oklahoma's alcohol watchdogs are sharing secrets teens already know, but their parents don't.

Underage drinking is a problem across the country. Erik Smoot with the Alcoholic Beverage Laws Enforcement Commission (ABLE) said the first line of defense for parents is to know what you can buy in any liquor store in Oklahoma.

Many underage drinkers are drinking alcohol in containers that look like water bottles, soda cans and perfume bottles. There are also items called "pocket shots" that can be concealed and poured into soda, and the packages are flushable. There are even "frost shots," which are popsicles containing 10 percent alcohol.

It's not just the packaging parents need to worry about. Underage drinkers are also soaking gummy bears in vodka, taking them in a baggie to school or football games, and eating them by the handful.

"It sits in your stomach because it's a gel, not a liquid," said Smoot. "And when you don't feel a buzz, you eat more of them and more of them and when they finally begin to break down, you're way more intoxicated than you should've been."
