Oklahoma City's Wes Welker is gearing up for another visit to the Super Bowl as his New England Patriots take on the New York Giants.
Before Wes was a player in the Super Bowl, he was a standout star on Heritage Hall's football team. There are no shortage of Wes Welker memories when you walk the halls of the school.
There's the 1998 state championship trophy they won when Wes was a junior; the school's first. There are action-packed pictures of the outgoing football player; and then there's his high school coach's office -- practically a shrine to Welker.
"He loves the game," said coach Rod Warner. "He loves to practice, the competition. He loves every part about it. I think without football, he'd probably evaporate from this earth."
Anyone who watched Wes play in Oklahoma under the Friday night lights knew he had talent, but News 9's Bobbie Miller was able to dig up a hidden talent recorded on video. It showed the pigskin-pro in a blonde wig and hula skirt, lip-syncing to Britney Spears.
"He was a superstar in the homecoming pep assembly lip sync contest in his senior year," said Wes' former teacher Betsy Horn. "He was a backup dancer. Probably the one that brought the house down with his portrayal of Britney Spears."
Welker left many school memories and records. Heritage Hall even retired the number five "Welker Jersey" both he and his older brother, Lee, wore. But those who've known Wes for a long time said he's not nearly done, and will accomplish even more.
