Passersby in downtown Oklahoma City got an eyeful on Thursday. The latest PETA, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, campaign set up a display of passion on the northwest corner of North Walker Avenue and West Main Street.
The nearly naked couple made out on an inflatable bed beneath a banner that read "Vegans Make Better Lovers."
"PETA wants people to know that the best way to show your love this Valentine's Day is by opting for a vegan diet," said Tracy Patton, a campaigner with PETA.
PETA is known for its "in your face" and sometimes "shocking" campaigns. But organizers say it's all for a good cause, this time, linking passion with compassion.
"We at PETA believe animals are not ours to eat," said Patton. "Compassion is sexy and vegans have more stamina both in and out of the bedroom, along with saving over a hundred animals a year from the horrors of the slaughter houses."
While the couple continued their make-out session in the chilly air, PETA members passed out copies of the group's vegetarian/vegan starter kit.
"One in four American men admit to suffering from impotence," said Patton. "Eating meat is responsible for an enormous amount of animal suffering and can increase the risk of impotence. Cholesterol and animal fat slow the flow of blood to all the body's vital organs, not just the heart."

Whether people got the message or not, many didn't hesitate capturing the spectacle on their phones. The group heads to Dallas on Friday.
