The brutal death of Jaymie Adams has a lot of people talking about what could lead someone to do this to a pregnant mother of three.
The Medical Examiner's office has released Adams' cause and manner of death as blunt force trauma to the head and multiple stab wounds.
Those who study criminology will tell you using a knife to commit murder can signal that the crime was a crime of passion. It also reveals that it was very personal to the killer.
"Often times, when you see multiple stab wounds, it means that a person is very angry with the individual," said Dr. Howard Kurtz, a professor of criminology at Oklahoma City University. He says people who have been stabbed to death often know their killer.
"There's a lot of hate and rage involved in those kinds of killings," Kurtz said.
Kurtz said the reports that both Jaymie Adams and her husband were involved in prostitution and swinging on Craigslist, which means the two were putting themselves at great risk. And the fact that a knife was used in the killing instead of a gun brings it to a whole new level.
"You have to get up very close to the person," explained Kurtz, who has his PhD in Sociology, and who used to be a probation and parole officer. "I mean, you could shoot somebody from 20 feet away, but if you are stabbing someone you have to be right up close to them to do that."
There are still a lot of questions that surround Adams' murder that only those close to the investigation and the crime know for sure. Like where the pregnant mother was stabbed, and how many times.
"That will tell us something about the profile of the person who committed the crime," Kurtz said.
So far, those details are being kept under wraps.
