Parents in El Reno are holding a meeting Friday night to discuss the issue of bullying and come up with solutions to prevent it.

The meeting is being held at the Area 51 game room at 7 p.m.  About 10 to 20 parents are expected to attend.

"I have three kids, two are getting bullied," said Amanda Lacefield, a parent who is helping to organize the meeting. "My son and oldest daughter used to love to go to school.  Now it's a big issue just to get them to go to school."

The parents created the Facebook group "El Reno Safe Kids" to help spread their message. The group is meeting to figure out the best strategy to fight the problem.  They say they will start with the school system, who they believe isn't doing enough. Their plan is to go before the board Monday night.

"All parents need some peace of mind, that this is getting taken care of," said Rudy Morado, another parent in the group.

But Superintendent Ranet Tippens says they take bullying very seriously and investigate every incident that they are made aware of, and she says she is trying to pass that information on to members of the group.

"We are making every effort to meet with parents about individual," said Tippens

But these parents still say the school isn't doing enough and they are doing everything they can to make sure their message is clear.

Tippens says she has been giving parents a handout that outlines the differences between bullying and conflict and some strategies for helping your child.
