The Humane Society, along with the Oklahoma Alliance for Animals, hosted the "Humane Lobby Day" at the state capitol on Tuesday.
The event recognized The Blaze's Tribute Equine Rescue from Jones because of their outstanding achievement in equine protection for the past ten years.
The owner of the rescue center says her success stems from the growing awareness of animal abuse.
"People are getting more active when they see neglected horses. So I definitely think there's more awareness than when we started out 10 years ago," said Natalie Cross, owner of the rescue group.
