Norman police continue their investigation into an overnight shooting that left a teenager dead in the 1900 block of Barkley Street.
The scene outside the home after the shooting was chaotic according to neighbors. Norman police aren't releasing much information at this point. Only that an 18-year-old man died of an apparent gunshot wound just after midnight.
"Sounded like a fight, kind of before, but I can't confirm that. But it sounded like there was some tussling going," said neighbor, Michael Smith.
Smith and his daughters live directly across the street from the shooting. He says there were a bunch of people at the house partying when he heard screaming.
"It was just chaotic. It was chaotic. It was really chaotic last night," said Smith. "This lady with a white shirt on comes out and she's like, you know, ‘He's bleeding and he's not breathing.'"
Other neighbors, like Kristi Walker and her husband, also heard the ruckus.
"Saw all the cop cars and so we walked out there to see what was going on and it was just a lot of commotion," said Walker.
Walker is worried because she doesn't have any information on what exactly happened.
"It makes us want to know what's going on. But, just nervous and scary," said Walker.
And she's not alone. Smith was just as shocked to see police respond across the street from where his kids play.
"We know everybody in the neighborhood and then for something like that to happen, you know, it's just, it's insane," said Smith.
Norman police are not releasing the 18-year-old victim's name at this time. Police tell News 9 the incident is being investigated by detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division. Witnesses say they saw two people in handcuffs being taken away from the scene by police.
