Man Charged In Murder Of Del City Toddler

A man accused of abusing and killing a child in Del City is now charged with her murder.

Roderick Jackson, 34, is charged in the death of 22-month-old Nkya Cardile. Del City police said Cardile died Tuesday, April 3 at a hospital and had obvious signs of abuse.

Police arrested Jackson, the boyfriend of the child's mother. Police say Jackson did go to a neighbor's apartment for help, where the two tried to revive the unconscious child, but were unsuccessful. That's when they called 911 for help.

Jackson is currently in the Oklahoma County jail. He has a lengthy criminal background and has spent time in prison for both assault and battery and domestic abuse.

The baby's mother has only been named as a witness.

The funeral for Nkya is scheduled for Wednesday, April 11 at 1 p.m. at the Earl M. Temple Memorial Chapel in Oklahoma City.
