As the storm approached the metro overnight, Oklahoma Christian University decided to take precautionary measures.
Around 2 a.m. Sunday, a campus wide email went out, directing students to safer buildings on campus.
A university spokesperson said they have a responsibility to protect their students, and decided it was better to be safe than sorry.
"If they say take shelter now, you've got five minutes, ten minutes, we cannot do the job we have to do to move this many students," spokesperson, Kinney Bryant said.
Once the all-clear was given, students went back to their dorm rooms and on-campus apartments.
