Heavy rains flooded several roads in Kay County late Sunday night, leaving some drivers stranded in high water.

The heaviest rains occurred between Enid and Ponca City. News 9 Meteorologist Jed Castles says Kay County received nine inches of rain within four hours.

While covering the storms near Ponca City, New 9 StormTracker Val Castor came across an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper who stopped to help a driver trapped in her car by flood waters. The trooper walked her through the high water and no one was hurt.

News 9 has also learned at least four houses in Ponca City and Blackwell also flooded.

Jed Castles says there's a chance of more thunderstorms later Monday, but the threat of significant flooding has waned.
