A Canadian County judge has postponed the trial for a couple accused of abusing their three adopted children.

The trial was scheduled to begin Monday, May 7, for John and Sonja Kluth. They are charged with child abuse and neglect. An investigation began after one of their adopted sons was found, hungry and cold, behind a dumpster at a northwest Oklahoma City restaurant in November 2010.

During a preliminary hearing, the teenage boy testified the Kluths would feed him dog or cat food. He also said the couple would burn, beat and cut the children. The boy also told the court the Kluths would lock them in a storm cellar at night.

A date for jury selection has not been set.
