An EMSA paramedic who spends his days saving lives comes home to find thieves have broken into his home. And it's not the first time this has happened.

This is the second time in two years this paramedic and his wife have been targeted by thieves in their southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood.

But now this medical investigator is using his investigative skills to try to track down who did it.

"Being a medical detective, if you will, as a paramedic, I always try to find those types of clues," Chris Prutzman said.

When Chris Prutzman moved onto this quiet street, he never dreamed it would be such a Mecca for thieves.

And even though he has dogs, a lock, and a high perimeter fence around his home, it did not stop thieves from breaking in, twice.

"Did not stop them and we're two days from getting an alarm system so that actually was going to go in Thursday anyway," Prutzman said.

The thieves got away with one of Prutzman's expensive hunting bows, some tools, and a BB gun that belonged to his son.

"My history is hunters don't usually steal from hunters," Prutzman said.

So Prutzman decided to take matters into his own hands, and hunt down the thieves and his stuff.

"At that point in time I started thinking about where would these items go to if I were to take them to somebody," Prutzman said.

He used his Iphone to locate all the pawn shops within a two mile radius and started calling them. Within a matter of minutes he tracked down a lead at Sooner State Pawn.

"I was lucky enough to talk to somebody who may have some of my items," Prutzman said.

Though the Pawn shop owner would not confirm Prutzman's claim, police are investigating, and Prutzman is hopeful his detective work will pay off and track down the crooks, and his stuff.

Prutzman says many of his neighbors were also hit by thieves Monday afternoon. He says his wife plans on staying home during the day, and help watch the neighborhood.

We checked our crime tracker database and there have been a few burglaries in that southwest Oklahoma City neighborhood in the past few months.
