A woman in Shawnee claimed she was kidnapped, raped, and held for ransom. Police got involved and now three men are behind bars.

According to the police report, the rape victim's mother came to the Shawnee Police Department after her daughter called her crying, saying she was being held for ransom.

The police department worked with the mother to arrange a sting operation, and was able to rescue the girl and arrest three men, Edward Shultz, Harold Fullbright, and Alvin Hishaw in connection with the crime.

Police report they found Edward Shultz and Harold Fullbright near the location of where the ransom was to be dropped off. Inside Shultz's pocket, they found two cell phones, one of which rang when police called the number left behind by one of the kidnappers for the ransom drop.

Police found Alvin Hishaw a short distance away. The report states he had the rape victim's ID in his pocket.

This story sounds like it was ripped straight from the movies. It was quick thinking by the Shawnee police department that landed the three men in jail.

Police also say the woman may not have been the only one held against her will.

"I'm scared to leave my home," said another woman who claimed she was also held against her will. "A friend of mine came, and they pushed my way into the house."

She told News 9 she had nothing to do with the kidnapping and even tried to help the rape victim.

"Man I kept telling the girl to leave, she wouldn't go," the woman said.

Police say that woman's story checked out, but that they are still investigating this rape, kidnapping and ransom attempt.

As for the amount of the ransom, police told News 9 the men were only asking for $700.

All three men are being held at the Pottawatomie County Jail on more than $100,000 bond.
