Two people have been charged with second-degree murder for the death of 19-year-old Kelsey Bransby in October 2011.

Bransby was shot in the face at an apartment complex near S.W. 89th Street and S. May Avenue in Oklahoma City. She was rushed to a hospital and died from her injures on October 28.

Police arrested 21-year-old Danielle Cooley and her boyfriend 20-year-old Cole Hopper on May 31. The Cleveland County District Attorney has now charged them with second-degree murder.

According to court documents, Cooley told police she and Hopper were inside Bransby's apartment on October 27. She said she was watching television, not paying attention to Hopper and Bransby, when she heard a gunshot. She said Hopper screamed and the two of them panicked and left because they did not want to go to jail.

Cooley told police she believed the shooting was an accident, but she didn't know what Hopper did with the gun or the spent shell casing after Bransby was shot. Investigators said she also admitted she was on drugs at the time of the shooting.
