OKLAHOMA CITY -- Investigators are looking into a suspicious fire that destroyed two buses Thursday morning at a southwest Oklahoma City daycare.
Firefighters were called to Childtime Learning Center at S.W. 89th Street and May at 3 a.m. When they arrived, fire crews saw two of the daycare's three buses were on fire. They put out the fires but the buses were destroyed.
Firefighters said the fires are suspicious and may be the result of arson.
As employees and parents arrived at the daycare, they were shocked to see what happened.
"It's such a shame," said Lorrie Hightower, who was dropping off her 1-year-old granddaughter. "I'm so sad that someone would be so cruel. They took these kids everywhere on field trips and now they're down to one bus. These kids are going to go nuts after seeing this."
If someone did set the buses on fire, Hightower wants them to know how she feels.
"You're a fool, and why, why, why would you do something like this? It doesn't benefit you in any way other than destroying something."
The daycare provides services for children between the ages of six weeks and 12 years old. No one was hurt in the fire.
