Family members say the body of a missing woman from Kingfisher County has been found in her car in Oklahoma City Saturday morning.
Betty Simon, 76, was reported missing on June 20. Simon's car was located under a bridge on N. Council Road just south of W. Edmond Road in the Deer Creek area, according to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office.
A relative told News 9 Simon's body was found in her car.
Authorities confirmed with News 9 that a woman was found dead inside the vehicle. However, they have not confirmed the identity of the body yet.
The Sheriff's Office said it could take a while before the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office officially identifies the body.
A Silver Alert issued for Simon was also canceled just after 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Oklahoma County Sheriff's deputies have shut down N. Council Road between N.W. 192nd and N.W. 164th while they investigate the case.
Simon went missing after visiting her husband Leo, who's been recovering from heart surgery at an Oklahoma City assisted living center.
A group of volunteers gathered Saturday morning to search for Simon. Community members also came together and held a prayer vigil for Simon Friday night at a church in Kingfisher.
Wayne Mallett, Betty Simon's brother, told News 9 reporter Jamie Oberg that the family is relieved to know what happened, but very sad because Simon "was a tough lady and held everyone together."
Mallet said the family wants to thank everyone for their support and search efforts.
