It's been nearly three months since a tornado ripped through the northwest Oklahoma town of Woodward, killing six people and injuring many more.
To help residents from Woodward and other nearby communities prepare for future disasters, the American Red Cross and CF Industries are joining together to give away several weather radios to local residents.
The event will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 13, at the Living Word Church, located at 1310 Oklahoma Avenue in Woodward. Food and drinks will also be provided during the event.
"We would like to thank CF Industries for partnering with us in this important program to help bring peace of mind to Woodward area residents," said Janienne Bella, Chief Executive Officer of the American Red Cross Central and Western Oklahoma Region.
CF Industries specializes in the manufacturing and distribution of nitrogen and phosphate products. The company operates nitrogen manufacturing complexes in central U.S. and Canada, including a Nitrogen Complex located in Woodward.
"We value our long presence in Woodward and have no higher priority than the safety of our employees, neighbors and residents in the community," Mark Jensen, Plant Manager, CF Industries' Woodward Nitrogen Complex.
