Emergency personnel in Logan County say the large grass fire that burned near Mulhall has been contained.
About 30 firefighters from the Canadian and Oklahoma County are still on scene Wednesday night, dousing some small areas that are still smoldering. Logan Emergency Manager David Ball says the fire was a rekindle Tuesday night.
The Mulhall Fire Department was the primary fire crew on scene Wednesday. The fire burned about 1,000 acres of land.
Multiple fire crews responded to the large grass fire near Interstate-35 and Mulhall Road in Logan County, Wednesday afternoon. Approximately 100 firefighters fought the blaze. Crews had an especially difficult time fighting this fire because of the wind.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol closed both north and southbound lanes of I-35 for about 90 minutes because of the fire.
The Red Cross has also responded with water, Gatorade and other snacks for the fire crews.
No structures were threatened by the fire. Logan County is not currently under a burn ban.
