OKLAHOMA CITY -- Two brothers are recovering from multiple stab wounds following a fight at a popular northwest Oklahoma City bar.

Police received 911 calls from Edna's shortly after midnight Thursday. Officers found the victims, 23-year-old Brett Andrew Appling and Matthew Brandon Appling, outside of the bar located on Classen Circle near Interstate 44. The suspects, 39-year-old Thomas Odell Davis and 29-year-old James Courter, were also still at the business.

Witnesses inside the bar at the time of the altercation say a fight between the men led to the stabbing. According to a police report, Davis cooperated with officers and gave them the knife used in the attacks. Police say he told them he stabbed the brothers in self-defense and Courter, his friend, helped pull the brothers off him.

Police arrested Davis and Courter, while the two victims were rushed to OU Medical Center. One victim had three stab wounds to his back. The other had six stab wounds to the back, including one that fractured his spine. Their conditions are not known.

"I know one guy walked down and he had huge blood stains on the back of his shirt," said customer and witness Zach Alizadeh-Fard. "I come here quite a bit. I like the staff and the scenery. It's really nice. So to see something like this is not normal."

At last check with police, they didn't know what sparked the fight.
