Family Demands Answers From Police Following Death Of OKC Man

A family wants answers after they say police brutally beat their loved one.

According to a preliminary report from the state medical examiner, Robin Howard died of acute pneumonia due to chest trauma caused by blunt force. His family, however, is accusing the Oklahoma City Police Department of murder.

Howard died at a hospital following an altercation with four Oklahoma City police officers. His family has hired an attorney to help them get answers. They say they need the truth, and their loved one deserves justice.

Police say the medical examiner's final report will help investigators determine how to proceed, but the family's attorney David Slane says it's just a way for police to buy time.

"The police should not be treated any differently than any other homicide. If they believe a homicide occurred then make an arrest."

Howard's sister Kimberly Turner says she wants to see someone arrested for her brother's death, even if it means putting a cop in handcuffs.

"According to the law that you are supposed to uphold, if you broke the law then you should have to pay the price just like anybody else," said Turner. "You shouldn't get away with it because you are an officer."

The officers involved in the physical altercation are on restricted duty. News 9 was told the final word from the medical examiner will come, at the earliest, at the end of the week.
