A quick-thinking Oklahoma City convenience store clerk locked two suspects inside the store when they attempted to run out with stolen beer.

The clerk told police Jasmine Hernandez, 19, and Rafael Alvarado,19, walked into the Penn Quick Stop Store at S.W. 47th Street and Penn on August 11. The police report states the two walked directly to the beer cooler, grabbed two 12-packs of Corona then tried to leave without paying for them.

The clerk activated the remote magnetic lock on the door, locking Hernandez and Alvarado inside the store. Police say 20-year-old Salvador Garcia was waiting outside in a car for the two. The clerk says Garcia drove away when he saw his accomplices were trapped, but he soon returned. The clerk says Garcia kicked out the glass of the front door in an attempt to free Hernandez and Alvarado, but the two could not escape because of the burglar bars on the door. Police say Garcia once again jumped in the car and drove away.

Police arrived a few minutes later and arrested Hernandez and Alvarado. The entire incident was recorded by the store's surveillance cameras. Officers watched the video to get a description and license plate number of the car that left the scene.

While police were still investigating the crime, they observed a car drive by that matched the vehicle in the video. Officers pulled over the car and arrested Garcia.

All three suspects were booked into the Oklahoma County jail on a complaint of larceny of merchandise. Garcia was also booked for destruction of property and driving under revocation. He also had outstanding warrants for domestic abuse and driving under the influence.
