Police say a gunman suspected of robbing two quick-loan stores within minutes is the same man who recently robbed two south Oklahoma City hotels.
Police say the suspect's crime spree began the morning of August 13 at a Ramada Inn at 7400 S. May. The clerk at the front desk says the suspect walked in and said he needed a room. According to surveillance video obtained by police, the suspect chatted with the clerk for several minutes then went to the bathroom at the back of the lobby.
The clerk says when the suspect returned, he was holding a gun. He forced the clerk and three more workers to empty the cash register and the safe. He also stole their purses and cell phones before forcing them into a closet. He then walked out of the hotel.
Ten days later, police say the same man robbed Surety Loans and Loan Express. Both stores are located near S.W. 59th Street and Penn.
On August 27, police say the same man also robbed the Days Inn near Interstate 35 and S.E. 25th Street. Once again, the suspect claimed he needed a room. While the clerk was checking the room rates, the man pulled a gun from his front pocket and pointed it at the employee. He took all the money from the cash drawer, but tried and failed to open the safe. He then walked out of the hotel.
No one was hurt in the robberies, but police want to catch the suspect before he strikes again. The suspect is described as a slim black male in his 20s. In all the robberies, the suspect was wearing a bright orange baseball cap.
