Thieves broke into several vehicles in far southwest Oklahoma City last weekend, but one victim may have caught the crooks on camera.
The video was taken in the middle of the night in the Country Place subdivision near S.W. 134th Street near Penn Avenue. You can see two young men going through an unlocked car parked in a driveway. The owner of the car says the thieves stole his sunglasses. He also points out the two suspects can be seen carrying items they likely took from other vehicles in the area.
Oklahoma City police confirm several vehicles in the neighborhood were broken into last weekend. They also note that nearly all vehicles that were targeted were left unlocked.
Officers have increased patrols in the area. Just last week, an 18 year old from Moore was arrested for allegedly breaking into several vehicles. According to an arrest report obtained by News 9, Damion George was caught with several Nintendo games, iPods and GPS devices.
One neighbor says these thefts have been causing big problems in this area for several months now, and she is fed up.
"I am so mad. It's not even about the money," said victim Savannah Burke. She had several items taken from her vehicle in May. "It's just the fact you would take something from somebody. I worked hard for it and you are too lazy to get it yourself."
Police urge residents to call 911 if they see anything or anyone suspicious in their neighborhood.
