Well September is wrapping up, fall is officially here, and we are seeing some decent rains across the state! Check out the rainfall totals over the past 48 hours! That is up until 1:30 pm today (Thursday). Many locations have seen well over an inch. In some cases over 3.5" of rain! So far at Will Rogers World Airport we've had 2.2 inches in the past 48 hours. Impressive! We could all do without the wind and hail that has been associated with the rains over the past couple of days, but hey, at least we're getting some rain! Looking ahead we have even more rain in the forecast and this could add a couple more inches on top of our impressive totals.
As a mid level wave passes overhead, we will have more opportunities for showers and storms tonight right on through late Saturday. Rain chances hold steady late tonight through Friday night and start to taper off Saturday. It looks like the rain will be gone by Sunday as this mid level feature moves out of the area.
The nice soaking rains haven't only been nice for the vegetation, rivers, and lakes, but have also helped drastically with our allergy problem across the state. If you are an allergy suffer I'm sure you have noticed the difference. We had many days over the past week or so where allergy alerts have been issued due to overly excessive amounts of ragweed and cedar pollen floating around. Yuck! Good news is, all categories on the allergy index are down to the moderate category now. I'm sure this makes for happy noses across the state.
So to wrap up here, rain totals are UP, rain chances are UP, and pollen is DOWN! If that doesn't help put a lil pep in your step, maybe this will…temperatures for the weekend are also going DOWN. Hello fall!!!
