Oklahoma State will have new tennis facilities soon. Athletics officials say construction on the first phase of the new Michael and Anne Greenwood Tennis Center has begun. The facility is located at the intersection of McElroy and Washington, across the street from Boone Pickens Stadium. It's expected to be completed next summer.

The 50,000 square foot indoor facility will have six tennis courts and include coaches' offices, locker rooms, and a sports medicine area. The outside will have a dozen lighted courts.

This is the second major project to get underway at OSU's Athletic Village, a long-range development plan announced in 2005 and aided by the donations of T. Boone Pickens whose $165 million dollar gift broke school records. The Sherman Smith Training Center, an indoor practice facility located just north of the stadium, was the first project to begin in the plan. Construction on it started last spring.
