A News 9 reporter on his way to work early Monday morning spotted flames shooting from a home and quickly called for help.
News 9's Rusty Surette saw the fire at N.E. 73rd Street and Santa Fe in Oklahoma City around 2:45 a.m. It was just around the corner from the News 9 studio.
Rusty called 911, and police were on the scene within 90 seconds. Firefighters arrived moments later and began battling the flames. Rusty pulled out his cell phone and began recording video after crews arrived.
It didn't take fire crews long to extinguish the flames, and determine no one was inside the home. Neighbors told News 9 a couple lives at the house with their teenager, but it appears the family was out of town when the fire began.
Firefighters are still trying to determine what started the fire. The house is considered a complete loss. It's estimated the flames caused about $100,000 in damage.
