More than 200 people attended a vigil Thursday night at the high school's football field. Coach Myers was diagnosed with kidney cancer nearly three years ago. Myers was just 45 years old.

Scott Myers quarterbacked the Chandler Lions' 1984 Oklahoma State Football Championship team. After a stint in the Army, Myers went on to coach at several high schools around the state, including Moore High School. Myers returned to his alma mater to coach Chandler this season.

Despite dealing with mind-numbing pain, Myers fought along with his players to come within a whisker of making the playoffs. Myers died Wednesday, just five days after Chandler lost its final game of the season.

Chandler senior linebacker Mubarak Hasham says Scott Myers left a legacy. "Coach Myers was a powerful man. Didn't nobody love football like he did."
