The Cowboys have landed two players on the Big 12's weekly men's basketball awards. Sophomore Le'Bryan Nash has been named Player of Week and freshman Marcus Smart earned top rookie honors after the Cowboys captured the championship at the Puerto Rico Tipoff. It is the second league honor for Nash after he was named Rookie of the Week once last season, while Smart is honored for the first time.

Nash averaged 20 points and 6.7 rebounds as Oklahoma State defeated Akron, Tennessee and No. 6 North Carolina State to win the Puerto Rico Tipoff. The sophomore swingman had his top effort versus the Wolfpack, as he scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed eight rebounds in the title contest. He shot 48.3 percent from the floor on the week and made 32-of-38 (.842) from the free throw line, including 13-of-13 against NCSU. Nash added five assists, three steals and two blocked shots and was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Smart earned MVP honors of the Puerto Rico Tipoff after helping lead the Cowboys to the tournament title. The freshman guard averaged 17 points and 8.3 rebounds in the three wins, posting double-digit point totals in each outing. In the championship game against No. 6 NC State, he recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, seven assists, four blocks and four steals. Nash finished the event 16-of-38 (.421) from the floor and 15-of-18 (.833) from the line, with totals of 13 assists, 10 steals and five blocks.
