A PlayStation helps lead police to an internet stash of child pornography.

Police say a neighbor was trying to get his gaming console to connect to a shared internet network when disturbing videos surfaced.

After about a two-week long investigation, police arrested 38-year-old Jason Cook on one count of possession of child porn. Sunday, January 27, is when police were first told about Cook downloading child porn on a network computer.

"Several people were using that Wi-Fi network, but it was very clear that someone was downloading porn, and they were able to identify which person was downloading that," OCPD Sgt. Gary Knight said.

Tenants called Cook socially awkward, and said he had only lived in the home -- which is split into three apartments -- for less than four months.

"Thinking what he may be thinking, it's crazy," said tenant Stacy Seely. "I mean, it makes my hair crawl. It's sick."

"We've all been through rehab, or treatment, or probation parole, or community sentencing, or drug court," said Gary Wilson, who manages the Sober Living property.

Wilson says all tenants are in the transitional housing program, "Sober Living," a program designed for those recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Cook was not a part of the program.

"We just leased to him out of the blue," said Wilson. "We were trying to fill it when we first got it going."

Cook also signed an agreement to the terms of a crime-free lease; a requirement for all Sober Living tenants. A few weeks ago, Wilson says they were trying to connect a PlayStation to the shared network, and began running different programs, and changing passwords to clear up the problem.

"And then all of a sudden, Cory yells at Glenn, saying, 'Oh my God,'" said Wilson.  "Look what's popped up on his computer!"

"It's crazy what we saw," said Seely.

The nearly two-week long investigation led to a search warrant being issued. Cook was arrested at his home Tuesday morning.

Investigators told the tenants, after they reported the child porn to police, not to mention anything to the suspect until the investigation was complete.
