The No. 4-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars used a big fourth inning to take control of the first game and then completed the sweep in the nightcap over the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels in a Sooner Athletic Conference doubleheader Thursday afternoon (Mar. 7) at Jack Allen Field.

The Stars took the first game 6-1 and routed the Lady Evangels 12-1 in the second game.

MACU starter Kelci Wolf held the Stars in check through the first three innings of the opener, allowing only an unearned run with two strikeouts.

Wolf kept it a one-run game in the third by pitching out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam with a strikeout of Emily Krienke.

But Elizabeth Oberst was up to the task for the Stars, holding the Lady Evangels scoreless on one hit through three innings that allowed the Stars offense to get going in the fourth.

Drew Wright keyed the big inning with a two-run single as the Stars plated five runs to jump ahead 6-0.

The Lady Evangels got on the board in the sixth when Kenna McCoy scored on a passed ball.

Wolf gave up two earned runs in 3 1/3 innings and Amber Tinney followed that with a respectable outing of 3 2/3 innings and three runs allowed.

Oberst struck out 10 in her 5 1/3 innings of work and gave up just the unearned run on two hits.

McCoy had two of the Lady Evangels three hits in the opener.

The Lady Evangels (3-10, 0-4 SAC) jumped on top early in the nightcap when Tiffany Holt reached on an error that allowed Kaycee Fowler to score the game's first run in the bottom of the first.

But the Stars took full advantage of two errors, two passed balls and a wild pitch to score five unearned runs in a seven-run second inning and then put it away when LeeAnn Lopez hit a three-run homer to fuel a five-run third inning.

Lopez drove in four runs in the second game and Kyndra Holasek had three RBI.

Jamie Rateliff lasted the full five innings and held the Lady Evangels hitless over the final four frames.

The Lady Evangels will play three games in Wichita, Kan. tomorrow (Mar. 8) for the McPherson College Tournament, beginning at noon against Bethel (Kan.). MACU will then matchup with McPherson (Kan.) at 4 p.m. and Tabor College (Kan.) at 6 p.m.
