According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, 21-year-old Brennan Trainor Rodrigues was arrested for removing evidence from his apartment, where Pickens had been visiting, and hiding it from police.

Court documents identify the evidence as heroin, drug paraphernalia, syringes and marijuana.

Pickens, who family and friends called Ty, was a student at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. He died on January 29 at Baylor All Saints Hospital after being taken there from the apartment he'd been visiting. Authorities say Rodrigues lived at that apartment.

The cause and manner of death for Pickens is still pending.

Rodriguez was charged Friday in connection with the case. He turned himself in at the Tarrant County Jail on a warrant, and was released after posting a $5,000 bond, according to the Star-Telegram.
