Man Arrested For Murder In OKC DUI Crash That Killed Taxi Driver

A man accused of driving drunk, and causing a wrong-way crash that killed a taxi driver in Oklahoma City on February 15, has been arrested on second-degree murder charges.

A man accused of driving drunk, and causing a wrong-way crash that killed a taxi driver in Oklahoma City on February 15, has been arrested on second-degree murder charges.

Ivan Nitsch, 30, was arrested on Tuesday in the 10300 block of S. Western in Oklahoma City.

According to the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office, a white van driven by Nitsch was going north in the southbound lanes of Interstate 235. The van crashed head-on into a taxi driven by 37-year-old Benny Wadsworth.

Wadsworth later died from his injuries on February 16.

A passenger in Wadsworth's taxi received minor injuries following the crash.

According to the Sheriff's office, at the time of the collision, Nitsch was driving nearly two and half times over the alcohol legal limit. He had a prior DUI conviction in Oklahoma City back in September, 2006.

Nitsch is currently being booked into the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
