During a basketball camp for kids in Edmond, Thunder star Thabo Sefolosha surprised two tornado-affected families with donations to help them rebuild their lives.
Dub Raper is a former high school basketball coach. He and his wife, Jackie, lost their home in Moore during the May 20 tornado. On May 19, another tornado destroyed the Little Axe home of Traci and David Stokes.
On Saturday afternoon, Sefolosha gave both families checks for $2,500 each to help with their rebuilding efforts. Sefolosha says he was in Oklahoma City when the tornadoes hit, and he felt he had to do something after seeing the damage.
"It was a stressful day, a stressful time. Just to come back, to be able to do something like this for those families, for this community in particular, I think it was really important," Sefolosha said.
Sefolosha also donated $1,500 to Central Oklahoma Habitat for Humanity. A portion of the basketball camps registration fees will also be donated to the organization.
