Police say they have captured two escaped inmates, identified as Michael Coleman and Lester Burns, in Weatherford, Tuesday night.

Police began the manhunt just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, when seven inmates escaped in a van outside of a hospital in Weatherford.

Police say a white Chevy E-350 1 Ton transport van with Tennessee plates was carrying eight out-of-state inmates when one of the inmates said he was sick. The driver stopped at Weatherford Regional Hospital so the sick inmate could be treated.

However, police say as two guards walked the sick prisoner to the hospital, they left the keys in the ignition. Two prisoners in the van were not restrained, and one prisoner got behind the wheel and drove away.

A short time later, police located the van in the 1400 block of N. Lyle in Weatherford. Police also captured five of the escaped inmates.

The two other inmates, Michael Coleman and Lester Burns, were later taken into custody at about 6:15 p.m.

Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford was placed on a lockdown for a short time, as authorities searched for the escapees in the area.

The inmates are not from Oklahoma.
