The Oklahoma City Police Department has received a grant to help officers battle crime in the northwest part of the city.
Money from the grant will be used for directed patrols, hot-spot policing, and what's known as Intelligence-Led Policing tactics in high violent-crime areas. Efforts will be focused on an area within the Hefner Division; it covers from N. Meridian Avenue to N. Council Road, and Melrose lane to N.W. 27th Street. Police decide to target this area based on a five-year review of violent crime in the city.

The department will hold a community meeting on November 4 to discuss the program. It begins at 7 p.m. at Council Grove Elementary School at 7721 Melrose Lane.
News 9's Crime Tracker Adrianna Iwasinski will have more on this anti-violent crime grant today on News 9 at Four, 5 and 6.
