People in Stillwater felt quite a jolt Friday morning when a 3.7 magnitude earthquake struck the area.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake hit just after 8:30 a.m. on November 22. It was centered six miles northeast of Stillwater, 32 miles northeast of Guthrie, and 57 miles north northeast of Oklahoma City.
News 9 received dozens of calls, Facebook posts and tweets when the quake shook Stillwater. Here are a few messages posted to our Facebook page:
Glenda Burch: We just had a nasty earthquake! Things broken and knocked off shelves.
Vicki Freppon: Just had an earthquake in Stillwater. Shook pretty good!
Amanda Zemp: Feeling some shaking in Stillwater. Did we have an earthquake?
ESPN football commentator Kirk Herbstreit, who happens to be in town for the network's College GameDay show ahead of Oklahoma State University's game against Baylor on Saturday, tweeted about the experience.
He was on the air on November 5, 2011 right after the OSU Cowboys had defeated Kansas State when a 5.6 magnitude quake struck central Oklahoma.
